IMDB rating: 7.10 Plot: Maya is a quick-witted young woman who comes over the Mexican border without papers and makes her way to the LA home of her older sister Rosa. Rosa gets Maya a job as a janitor: a non-union janitorial service has the contract, the foul-mouthed supervisor can fire workers on a whim, and the service-workers’ union has assigned organizer Sam Shapiro to bring its “justice for janitors” campaign to the building. Sam finds Maya a willing listener, she’s also attracted to him. Rosa resists, she has an ailing husband to consider. The workers try for public support; management intimidates workers to divide and conquer. Rosa and Maya as well as workers and management may be set to collide. |

R&P: How y'all doing?
Well, since this is first question I’ve asked since bread was invented, I thought I’d start off to introducing myself to any newbs: Hai, I’m Zakk, and I like ska :p
Anyways, I have a question. Are there any bands you like that still exist, but have none of the original members? I was thinking about bands like Guns N’ Roses and Smashing Pumpkins, where Axl and Billy are both the only original remaining members, respectively, and then I wondered if thse bands (for example) would still go on without them, as the same band. So my question is, do you think the same band with all different members is still the same band? And what are some bands you like with most/all of the original members gone, if this makes any sense? xD

I know what you mean. Holy Moses a thrash band formed in 1980 technically carries none of the original line up. But the longest member has been in it since 1981 (Sabina Classen the Vocalist). The original Line-Up was Jochen Funders (1980-1981) as the vocalist and guitarist, Ramon Brussler (1980-1986) as the bassist, and Peter Vonderstein (1980-1981) as the drummer. The current line-up is Sabina Classen (1981-Present) as the vocalist, Michael Hankel (2002-Present) as the guitarist, Oliver Jaath (2006-Present) as the second guitarist, Thomas Neitsch (2008-Present) as the bassist, and Guido Richter (1990-1992) (2007-Present) as the drummer. They’re still a pretty good band.

@ The Person Who Said Mayhem: Mayhem actually has Necrobutcher as their bassist, although he left the band for a while he rejioned and is the only member from the original line-up.

Lynyrd Skynyrd, dude. Rossington is the only remaining original member of the band.

I doubt they’d have a problem with continuing as Guns n’ Roses or Smashing Pumpkins…hey, if you’re making money, why give it up? The FANS? Who cares about the FANS? They wouldn’t REALLY be the same band, of course, they’d just carry the same title.
BQ: Hm…my album of the month? In the Wake of Poseidon by King Crimson.
BQ2: Let’s hope it’s better. Let’s PRAY it’s better. The last decade wasn’t particularly ‘good’ in the realm of rock music.

Hey dude.
Underoaht only have one original member left and that is the great Aaron Gillespie… if he left they would not be the same without him.
I think once all members of the original band are gone it’s hard to be the same band unless the original members only stayed round for a little while.
